One of the nice features of this desktop enhancement utility is the battery meter that is displayed on the right side by default. Every gadget that is displayed by default on the sidebar, can be dragged wherever you like on the screen.

Pluses: Windows Vista Transformation Pack is a free product. It adds a customizable new look to your Windows desktop, with little or no intervention from your side.

Drawbacks / flaws: Once installed, it might reduce the speed of your machine and might create system instability. For example, on my computer, sometimes the default user icon that normally shows up in the Start menu, is displayed somewhere in the middle of the screen and remains there until I reboot.

In conclusion: Windows Vista Transformation Pack is an interesting application, with lots of new features just waiting to be put through the test. If you are bored with your Windows XP interface, this software is a definite must-try.

General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) is a packet oriented Mobile Data Service available to users of Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) and IS-136 mobile phones. It provides data rates from 56 up to 114 kbit/s.

GPRS can be used for services such as Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) access, Short Message Service (SMS), Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS), and for Internet communication services such as email and World Wide Web access. GPRS data transfer is typically charged per megabyte of traffic transferred, while data communication via traditional circuit switching is billed per minute of connection time, independent of whether the user actually is using the capacity or is in an idle state. GPRS is a best-effort packet switched service, as opposed to circuit switching, where a certain Quality of Service (QoS) is guaranteed during the connection for non-mobile users.

2G cellular systems combined with GPRS are often described as "2.5G", that is, a technology between the second (2G) and third (3G) generations of mobile telephony. It provides moderate speed data transfer, by using unused Time division multiple access (TDMA) channels in, for example, the GSM system. Originally there was some thought to extend GPRS to cover other standards, but instead those networks are being converted to use the GSM standard, so that GSM is the only kind of network where GPRS is in use. GPRS is integrated into GSM Release 97 and newer releases. It was originally standardized by European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), but now by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP).

USB GPRS modems use a terminal-like interface USB 2.0 and later, data formats V.42bis, and RFC 1144 and external antennas. Modems can be add in cards (for laptop) or external USB devices which are similar in shape and size to a computer mouse.

GPRS can be used as the bearer of SMS. If SMS over GPRS is used, an SMS transmission speed of about 30 SMS messages per minute may be achieved. This is much faster than using the ordinary SMS over GSM, whose SMS transmission speed is about 6 to 10 SMS messages per minute

The General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) network is an "always on", private network for data. It uses the existing GSM network to transmit and receive TCP/IP based data to and from GPRS mobile devices. Private IP addresses are typically dynamically assigned within the network to mobile devices. However, Access Point Names (APN's) provide a gateway route to other networks such as the Internet, WAP services or private corporate networks. Firewalls typically reside at the APN to isolate the public and private networks. IP addresses allocated to mobile GPRS devices are therefore not addressable from outside the GPRS network (e.g. from the Internet) without specialised services or infrastructure.

Although client GPRS devices can communicate with ease over Public and Private networks, GPRS server devices require a static IP address. Network Operators offer private APN's to corporate networks over Leased Lines or VPN's, where IP address assignment is managed by the customer's corporate Network e.g. using a radius server. Alternatively, Wireless Operators in some countries offer private APN's with static IP address support thereby creating customers their own private network within the GPRS network. These are supported by the GPRS modem or GPRS routers "Always on" mode of operation.

Wi-Fi technology has served to set up mesh networks, for example, in London.[1] Both architectures can operate in community networks.
In addition to restricted use in homes and offices, Wi-Fi can make access publicly available at Wi-Fi hotspots provided either free of charge or to subscribers to various providers. Organizations and businesses such as airports, hotels and restaurants often provide free hotspots to attract or assist clients. Enthusiasts or authorities who wish to provide services or even to promote business in a given area sometimes provide free Wi-Fi access. Superior Heat Dissipation
Heat is the enemy of your computer’s key components. And the more you tweak components for performance, the more heat is generated. Heat will slow down your system and impact long term reliability. With traditional DDR2 memory, the standard method of chip packaging involves a BGA (Ball Grid Array). In a BGA, small balls of solder, organized as a grid, are the leads that connect the device to the module circuit board. A Micron Semiconductor study shows that in a BGA memory device as much as 50% of the heat generated by the chip is actually conducted into the circuit board. Since traditional heat sinks are only attached to the front surface of memory chips, there’s no easy thermal path for the heat coming from the back of the chips.

Samsung Announces Messager Handset

Samsung has announced a new handset called the Messager that will first be available through MetroPCS customers. The handset is a horizontal slider with a full QWERTY keyboard. The phone comes in black and features a built-in 1.3-megapixel camera, SMS, MMs, email and IM capability.
Voice-recognition, Bluetooth, and a speakerphone are also built into the device. The phone has a MP3 player and an external microSD card slot for image storage supporting up to 2GB of memory. The Messager measures 4.4" x 2" x 0.7" and has a 2.1-inch 262K 176 x 220 resolution LCD.
"The stylish horizontal slider of the Samsung Messager is easy to use," said Bill Ogle, Chief Marketing Officer of Samsung Telecommunications America. "The Samsung Messager's attractive layout and QWERTY keyboard is a great fit for people who love text messaging."

Starting today, compatible Nokia mobile phone owners can search, find and buy high-quality games which are made for mobile handsets. Also there is a community for N-Gage users which is called N-Gage Arena so that you can meet friends and play some games in multiplayer mode. Apart from these you can discuss live topics, participate in tournaments and events that are held by Nokia N-Gage community.
The N-Gage platform has very popular games, and these games are the most graphically rich mobile games ever produced. There are many game genre including strategy, sport, arcade and action. All these games are developed specifically for N-Gage. EA SPORTS(TM) FIFA 08 by EA Mobile; Brain Challenge and Asphalt 3: Street Rules by Gameloft; World Series of Poker (TM) Pro Challenge by Glu Mobile; and Hooked On: Creatures of the Deep and System Rush: Evolution by Nokia Publishing are among the first developed games to come by leading game developers. Two new mobile phones by Nokia are announced today for music lovers. First one is the Nokia 5320 XpressMusic which is a S60 UI Symbian operated smartphone, and the latter is the Nokia 5220 XpressMusic which is a asymmetrically designed S40 interfaced mobile phone.
Other than the great features of the Nokia 5320 XpressMusic as a music centered phone, it is a 3G/HSDPA enabled mobile smartphone. It has great external music controls, stereo FM radio, 3.5mm Standard audio jack and stereo A2DP Bluetooth. Also this time dedicated audio chip is included in the package to enhance audio quality.
There is also a microSD memory card slot that allows to store music up to 8GB, also we are informed that 1GB card is included in the retail package. Also there is special application which is the newest among XpressMusic phones, Nokia Say and Play application so that you can remote your music player using your voice.There are also plenty of nice mobile gaming features in the Nokia 5320 XpressMusic.
